John Bryant:

Born in Bristol then moved to the Isle of Wight at the age of 13 years. Finished my schooling on the island, then at the age of 15 years started a 6 year Letterpress Printing apprenticeship.

Stayed in the printing trade all my working life, retraining in Lithography, Rotary Gravure and Web Offset. Moved up from an ordinary printer to No1 printer, then Team Leader, then Process Manager.

On retiring at the age of 64 years, immediately volunteered with the Friends of Brading Roman Villa, and Shanklin library. I am still working with both organizations and now also with the Vectis Archaeological Trust.

One of my interests is classic cars, (I own a Daimler SP250, aka Daimler Dart). I am a member of the Vectis Historic Vehicle Club where I organize the club’s Open Day annually raising funds for various charities on the Isle of Wight. I am also a keen Bridge player being Chairman of the Ventnor Bridge Club and Director of the Shanklin Conservative Bridge Club.
